The word is: Truth.
Sometimes we take the wrong route to reach our truth. The important part is then realising our truth and staying on the right path, no matter how difficult that may be. Be true to yourself, even if you have to start all over again; there's no shame in that. The only true shame is repeating the same mistakes, not learning from them, and settling out of fear. Respect yourself, and only keep hold of the true people in your life. It's a lonelier life mixing and mingling with people who are not your true friends, than it is being by oneself: Be strong and know this. Let go and know yourself. Face the world. Choose honest over fake. Do not encourage another person's negativity or allow anyone to squash your joy. Fuck the begrudgers, but at the same time remember that looking after number one does not equate being an arsehole.
These are not words of advice. This is my own truth.
I didn't spend my New Year's Eve screaming We Are Your Friends to a bunch of heads in a gaff, and I'm not one for Jesus but I'm glad the last day of 2012 was spent honouring Hebrews 13:2, and I will try to continue this tradition (perhaps that's my resolution). In keeping with the encouragement of kindness, this shall be my daily to-do list:

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I was definitely more than skirting the surface of insanity for a while with my repetitive actions, and have finally found the brakes. I'm beginning to say "yes" to myself, rather than to others. I'm not afraid of saying "no" either.
